Ah the uncertainties in life… Chris Johnson or Maurice Jones-Drew? Can Ochocinco and T.O. really coexist (child please!)? Will ESPN come to their senses and re-hire Michael Irving? Should I eat that fourth Cinnabon? Manning or Brees? Whiz with or Whiz without? Mac or PC? Chicken or Egg? Will the Six Flags guy ever stop haunting my dreams? Ahhhhh!
While complex philosophical quandaries will always exist in this crazy world of ours, one thing is for sure… The NFL season is upon us my friends and that means one thing and one thing only…Excel Rain Man is back at it with our Football Survivor Pool 2010: An Excel Rain Tool for Managing your own survivor-style football pool.
Yes… DirectTV refuses to release its unyielding death grip on NFL Sunday Ticket, and sure… CBS Sportsline remains banned in the office despite your well-intentioned petition (thanks for your support Accounting & Finance), there is still a way to pack pounds of procrastination into your PC… GRIDIRON STYLE!
Look as though you are working on a bad-ass spreadsheet in your 3×3 cube (yeah right), while discretely getting your fix of inter-office sports gambling business, and for your financial gains management get your business bank account ready for your profits!
Here’s the deal.
Rules:
– Each week pool participants will choose one football team to win, straight up (i.e. no spreads)
– Once a participant has chosen a team for a given week, they will be unable to choose that team for the remainder of the season
– If your team wins, you move on to the next week
– The league manager can choose single or double elimination style and how to handle games that end in a tie
Logistics:
– A Pool Manager is needed to coordinate this “spread-tasterpiece” and enter in selections each week for the participants
– Each Pool Participant will email his or her weekly selection to the pool manager (prior to the first game of the week)
– Stakes are up to you really. Cash or just bragging rights… it’s all good!
– Get creative with team names! (My 12-year-old husband wants me to tell you all that his team, The New Direction will once again rise to dominance this year. Crap… I’ve played right into his hands)
– Talk smack… OBVI!

Small Biz Spotlight
Do you celebrate personalized gear as much as I do? If you do, you gots to check out our favorite custom embroidery gem, CAPtions. Lisa Smith aka the “Hat Lady” is hooking everyone up with custom embroidered swag!
Lisa has been assembling our Maine Madness and ExcelRainMan logo hats and shirts since the beginning, and to this day, she never bats an eye at a ridiculous request or a tight deadline…
Whether it’s an ExcelRainMan hat with Logo on the front, website on the back, oh yeah let’s personalize it a little more with my name embroidered above the website… Or “Maine Madness 2010, The Battle of Bridgton” Hats and Golf Shirts complete with an embroidered picture of the State with team names on the back… CAPtions has always been there for me. (Side Note: While winless thus far in Maine Madness competition, Team Jennesse certainly kills it in the team gear and team name categories)
The bottom line is Lisa can handle huge corporate orders, but still works great with small businesses and individuals who don’t need the same quantity of a certain item. She can provide the product (hat, shirt etc) or you can bring your own to be customized. So go crazy Walter, get those white jeans monogrammed with “WST III” across the butt… Trust me, Lisa will do a great job!
You can find the CAPtions kiosk in Citicorp Center on the 1st floor (153 East 53rd Street… head in the entrance on 54th between Lexington and 3rd Ave & go up the stairs) She can also be reached @ HatLadyNY@aol.com or 212-750-7629. Shipping is available as well for those of you who are outside NYC or a tad lazy…
P.S. Lisa also does on-site events for retail stores where free monogramming is offered with a purchase. Past clients include Bloomies, Saks, Barneys, InStyle, Tory Burch and Thomas Pink.
That’s it for now folks. Enjoy the rest of your week and have a great long weekend!
As always, if you want Excel Rain Man to simply do your work for you… Submit a Request and we will take that drab Excel work off your desk!
Don’t forget to become a fan of Excel Rain Man on facebook and follow us on Twitter.
Until next time,
