Tasty Keyboard Shortcuts AND the Best Cookies Ever…

Due to the crazy rain in the NY area yesterday, this turned out to be my first weekend sans golf since April (I really should be much better at this point!)… so I decided to chill in, crank out a Newsletter and watch Dufner and Bradley battle it out in the PGA Championship.

As such, for your spreadsheeting pleasure, here are some scrolling keyboard shortcuts to help hone your skills… After all, using your mouse is so J.V.

Also check out the below write-up on the fabulous Levain Bakery!

For starters, on our Mac laptops, we do not have Page Up and Page Down. Here is a way around it:
Page Up: hold function, select ↑
Page Down: hold function, select ↓
For each of the below shortcuts, you can start by placing the cursor on any cell in the desired worksheet… then
1. Move to the next tab (worksheet) in a workbook
PC, Mac: hold Control, select Page Down
Mac laptop: hold Control, hold function, select ↓
2. Move to the previous tab (worksheet) in a workbook
PC, Mac: hold Control, select Page Up
Mac laptop: hold Control, hold function, select ↑
3. Selects the current and next tab (worksheet) in a workbook

Small Biz Spotlight

When I recently heard that one of my fellow yogis @ the Kula Yoga Project, Pamela Weekes, had a cookie business (Levain Bakery, www.levainbakery.com), I was naturally skeptical. No one who dominates Eka Pada Koundiyanasana with such ease and grace could ALSO run a successful cookie company… right? That said, as an equal opportunity cookie connoisseur, I felt it was necessary to perform the proper due diligence and give these treats a shot at the title.

While spending the 4th of July with our friends, Mike and Ella, we happened upon the Levain outpost in the Hamptons. After a quick (not really) 18 holes @ Montauk Downs, my husband and I decided to grab a “small” sampling of cookies. In doing so, we picked up a dozen of Levain’s cookies… 4 oatmeal raisin, 4 dark chocolate peanut butter chip and 4 chocolate chip walnut.

We also bought a couple of their flatbread pizzas just for good measure and somehow we managed to get the goods back to the house without devouring them in our rental Hyundai Sonata. These cookies smelled so good, that we decided not only to try them before dinner, but before cocktail hour and our afternoon game of “4 Pump Chug” (that’s another story for another day).

The moment we sunk our teeth into these delicious treats we were hooked. Levain cookies have this brilliant balance of being firm on the outside while still incredibly moist on the inside. All of the cookies were absolutely amazing. While I thought that the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Cookies would be the best, we ended up loving all of them! Seriously… best cookies EVER!

When my husband and I left early the next morning for a quick 18 @ Bethpage on our way home, we swiped some cookies for the road and, and were so glad we did. They were still killer the next day!

Based on Mike and Ella’s reaction, we realize it is now expected that we bring some Levain cookies with us when we storm their castle… whether in Long Island or in NYC. Fortunately for us, Levain has a bunch of NY locations and even offers delivery. For all of you out-of-town spreadsheeters, you can order these tasty treats online… Enjoy!
